a marathon of a weekend

This weekend was filled with very exciting events! Here are the chain of events in reverse order:

Travis ran his third marathon and finished with an awesome time of 3:15:35. He did great and ran his personal best! One can only assume that he did so well because of his large fan base...me, Russ, Laura, Nick, Carrie, and his UO noon running group. We are really proud of him! Go Travis!!! He is moving a bit slow today, but hanging in there.

Saturday night, before the race we hosted a spaghetti "carbo load" party for Travis, his running crew, and their families. We served pasta and everyone brought a side dish to share. We had a feast! Earlier that day, Laura and Nick arrived from Seattle for the weekend. We played some bocce ball and relaxed a bit. Homer, the poodle came along to visit as well. They were all lovely guests.

Friday night, Russ, Travis, and I went out for some yummy food and drinks at Noho's Hawaiian restaurant, followed by a visit to the Beer Stein with Carrie. I was recovering from a wonderful full day fieldtrip to RideAble, a horseback riding place in Springfield. I almost fell asleep at dinner because I had so much fun during the day with my class.

Thursday evening Russ flew down from Spokane to check out a motorcycle in Salem, OR that he found on Craigslist. He really liked it and bought it to drive home.

O man, what a weekend. We had fun and good company! I'll update with some pictures soon!
